BEFORE & AFTER CARE

The Community Education Department offers child care services for parents and students attending a Jefferson Parish          Public School. This program is tuition based and participation is voluntary. Child Care is designed to offer parents a                safe and secure atmosphere for their children between the hours of 7:00 a.m. until the bell rings and from the end of the           school day until 6:00 p.m. The Child Care Program accepts Child Care Assistant (CCA)  

All current employees of the Jefferson Parish School System may receive a 10% discount for their children using Before and         After Care.  Please present your employee number when registering the student for child care.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM 

SUMMER CAMP 2010 :  JUNE 7, 2010 - JULY 30, 2010                              The Summer Camp Program is tuition based and is held at several elementary schools in Jefferson Parish. All students       between the ages of 5 and 11 are invited to participate. 

The program is available Monday - Friday from 8:00 a .m. to 3:00 p.m. Before and After Camp Care is available at an           additional cost.  Before Care is 7:00 a.m. till 8:00 a.m., After Care is 3:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.  All camps are closed for the           July 4th holiday (or Friday before if 4th is on the weekend). Campers participate in academic games each day in order to            keep their academic skills sharpened through the summer months. They also attend field trips, participate in water activities,      structured indoor and outside games, do arts and craft activities and occasionally have guest speakers.  All Summer Camps    sites accept Child Care Assistance (CCA).

TO REGISTER FOR THE SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM: 

REGISTRATION WILL OPENED APRIL 5, 2010 

I.    Choose a  Summer Camp Locations from the Proposed Summer Camp Locations list located on the Programs Locations page or speak to your Child Care director regarding sites that will be opened. You may register at the Summer Camp location of     your choice. Each Summer Camp Site can accept a maximum of 120 campers. When a Summer Camp site reaches the      maximum campers they may not accept any additional registrations.

II    Go to the site offering Summer Camp during school hours or Child Care hours.

IV. Complete Registration form and pay the registration fee (check or money order)

SUMMER CAMP FEES:                                                                                                               

   REGISTRATION  :              $ 30.00 per camper                                                          

   SUMMER CAMP :                $ 60.00 per week 

BEFORE & AFTER CARE FEES: (if needed in addition to camp fees)      

   BEFORE CARE ONLY :        $ 20.00 per week             

   AFTER CARE ONLY :          $ 27.00 per week    

   BEFORE & AFTER CARE :   $ 32.00 per week

DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM

imageThe Jefferson Parish Public School System offers a Driver Education Program approved by the State Department of Education and the Department of  Public Safety. The Community Education Department oversees the program. 

Classes are held four times a year and registration is held on both the east bank and west bank.

Students are required to complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of driving.  Upon             completion of the program, students earn ½ credit.  This program is offered to public, private and parochial students in       Jefferson and surrounding parishes. To register for Driver's Education Classes a check or money order must be presented      the night     of registration at the registration site and dates listed below in the "2009-2010 Driver's Education Session" section.  

Driver's Education is required by the State of Louisiana before a driver's license is issued for those between the ages of 15           and 17.

          Driver's Education Fees:

   Driver's Education Classes :          $ 340.00 per student

   JPPSS Employee Discount Fee :  $ 306.00 per student. Employees of the Jefferson Parish School           System will receive a discount for their own children. JPPSS Employee number required at the time of registration.

   Processing Fee :                                     $ 15.00 will be charged for any student that drops before the 1st day          of class 

   Duplicate Dr's Ed. Certificate :      $ 15.00, please call the Community Education Office 736-1846 with student information when requesting a duplicate Driver's Education Certificate.

ADULT EDUCATION

imageAdult Learning Centers offer FREE services to all adults that include skill improvement to meet the needs   of    of the workforce, GED preparation, computer literacy, job application/resume' writing assistance, and           English language classes for the non-English speakers.  East Bank and West Bank sites offer assistance      at  at flexible times from 7:30 a.m.- 9:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
